Bring a touch of boho charm to your home with a macramé plant hanger.
Macramé might look intricate, but it’s perfect for beginners. All you need to learn is one knot! Once you’ve mastered it, you can make elegant, knotted hangers to show off your plants.
🌱 What You’ll Need:
- 4 strands of thick cotton cord (about 3–4 feet each)
- Wooden or metal ring
- Scissors
- Tape measure
- Potted plant (like pothos or spider plant)
✨ Step-by-Step Guide:
- Cut Your Cords
Measure and cut four equal-length cords. Fold them in half and loop the folded ends through the ring, pulling the loose ends through to secure. - Make a Guttering Knot
Take about 6 inches of one cord and wrap it around all eight cords several times, forming a knot just below the ring. Tuck the end in and pull tight. - Tie Square Knots
Divide the cords into four groups of two. About a foot down, tie a square knot in each group. Repeat the square knots further down, using cords from adjacent groups to create a net-like pattern. - Secure the Base
Gather all cords together and tie a large knot at the bottom to hold the plant pot securely. Trim the ends for a clean tassel.
🧡 Tip:
Hang your macramé plant hanger near a sunny window, and it’ll quickly become a focal point of your room. Try different cord colors and patterns as you gain confidence!
